Angela Frankudakis of Attleboro, MA Honored
as a 2008 Outstanding Volunteer
The Volunteer Center of Rhode Island (VCRI) is pleased to announce that Angela Frankudakis of Attleboro will be honored for commendable service in her community through her volunteer efforts on behalf of Angelcat Haven Feline Rescue. The Outstanding Volunteer Award, sponsored this year by The Washington Trust Company, is presented annually to several individuals and groups who have made a visible impact in their communities through focused and selfless volunteer work. These awards serve to emphasize the important role volunteers play in Rhode Island and to recognize the time and talent invested by the honorees, such as Angela Frankudakis, in nonprofit organizations throughout the state of Rhode Island and neighboring South Eastern Massachusetts.
Frankudakis founded Angelcat Haven Feline Rescue in November 2006 and currently serves as the President, Feline Coordinator, Administrator, Accountant and Fundraising Chairman. Her contributions include the Trap/Neuter/Release program for feral cats and fundraising events. Frankudakis also serves as a liaison with local veterinarians in the Plainville area that provide services to homeless cats.
Frankudakis’ efforts have led to Angelcat rescuing and adopting out over 170 cats, while just recently taking in their 200th cat. Rose Gates and Alexandra Welch-Zerba, of Angelcat Haven, praise Frankudakis: “Under Angela’s leadership and direction, Angelcat has recruited over thirty volunteers, each dedicated to the mission of reducing the homeless cat overpopulation and educating the public about the importance of spaying and neutering their pets - all to provide the most efficient, effective means of putting an end to the euthanasia epidemic in our region.”
In addition to her work with Angelcat and active role in the community, Frankudakis is currently fostering two teenage girls and has fostered three additional children in the past.
VCRI is proud to acknowledge the volunteer efforts of Angela Frankudakis by naming her an Outstanding Volunteer during "VolunCheers 2008!" on Tuesday, April 29th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, RI.
